I Came Home Early and Found My New Wife Torturing My Daughter—But She Never Expected Me to Walk In

Part 2

My daughter didn't even look up when she heard my voice.

She just flinched.

As if she expected another blow.

That broke something inside me.

I rushed across the room, dropped to my knees, and gently lifted Lily away from the pile of razor-sharp durian shells. Blood ran down both of her legs, staining my suit.

"Dad..." she whispered, barely conscious.

"I'm here," I said, holding her close. "No one will ever hurt you again."

Victoria quickly forced tears into her eyes.

"James, you're misunderstanding everything!"

"I was disciplining her!"

"She attacked me first!"

I slowly stood, still shielding Lily behind me.

My eyes landed on the leather belt lying on the floor.

Then on the broken pieces of her school uniform.

Then on the bloody shells.

"You call this discipline?"

Victoria's voice trembled.

"She was disrespectful... she kept talking about your first wife... she refused to listen..."

Before she could finish, Lily weakly pulled something from inside her torn uniform pocket.

"Dad..."

She handed me a tiny voice recorder.

"I... I knew she wouldn't stop..."

"I recorded everything."

Victoria's face instantly lost every trace of color.

"No..."

I pressed play.

Her own voice echoed through the silent penthouse.

"Your father will never believe you."

"By the time he gets home, I'll tell him you fell down the stairs."

"Once he signs everything over to me, I'll send you to boarding school overseas forever."

Another crack of the belt.

Lily screaming.

Victoria laughing.

The room became unbearably silent.

I looked directly into my wife.

"You planned this."

She took one shaky step backward.

"James... please..."

"I can explain..."

But before she could say another word, the penthouse security elevator chimed.

The doors opened.

Three police officers walked in.

Behind them stood my family lawyer.

And in his hand...

was the envelope Victoria had secretly filed two weeks earlier—

the forged documents transferring half of my company's shares into her name.

She wasn't just abusing my daughter.

She had been preparing to steal everything I had.

Victoria realized there was nowhere left to run.

Then she suddenly smiled.

A slow...

terrifying smile.

"You still don't know the biggest secret, James."

She looked straight at Lily.

"And she's the reason your life is about to be destroyed."

Victoria's smile sent a chill through the entire room.

"The biggest secret?" I asked, my voice steady despite the fury boiling inside me.

She laughed.

"You think you're the one in control because the police are here?"

"You have no idea what's waiting for you."

One of the officers stepped forward.

"Ma'am, put your hands where we can see them."

Victoria ignored him.

Instead, she stared directly at Lily.

"You should've kept your mouth shut."

Lily instinctively moved behind me, her hands shaking.

My lawyer opened the envelope.

"James, the forged share transfer is enough for fraud charges."

"But... there's something else."

He pulled out another document.

"I didn't bring this."

"It was attached to the file anonymously this morning."

My heart sank as I unfolded the papers.

Across the top were the words:

LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT

It was my late wife's will.

Or what appeared to be her will.

According to the document, if Lily was ever declared mentally unstable or legally unfit, every asset placed in her trust would be transferred to... Victoria.

I looked up slowly.

"This is fake."

My lawyer nodded.

"It certainly appears to be."

"But someone spent a fortune creating it."

Victoria finally smiled again.

"You still don't understand."

"I never wanted your company."

"I wanted Lily's inheritance."

The room fell silent.

Then Lily whispered through tears,

"Dad... she kept asking me to sign papers."

"She said they were school forms."

"I refused..."

Victoria's expression darkened.

"She ruined everything."

One of the officers immediately stepped forward and placed handcuffs on Victoria.

"Victoria Carter, you're under arrest on suspicion of assault, fraud, and coercion."

As they led her toward the elevator, she turned one last time.

"This isn't over."

"You should ask your lawyer where he was the night your first wife died."

Everyone froze.

My lawyer's face drained of color.

He didn't deny it.

He simply lowered his eyes.

And in that moment...

I realized Victoria hadn't been working alone.
