Chapter 1 - The Awakening

The midday sun beat down on the crowded plaza, but Julian Vance felt entirely frozen in time.

He stared down at his own two feet, which were currently supporting his entire body weight for the first time in nine agonizing years.

The expensive, custom-built titanium wheelchair sat completely empty behind him, looking like a discarded metal cage.

The unknown teenager, wearing a faded denim jacket and a dark baseball cap, stood just a few feet away with a deeply intense expression.

Julian’s highly paid, elite private security detail was stationed by the black SUVs, entirely oblivious to the absolute miracle happening in the center of the square.

For nearly a decade, Julian had been told that his lower spine was completely shattered beyond any hope of medical repair.

He had swallowed thousands of bitter pills, endured hundreds of painful physical therapy sessions, and accepted his tragic fate as a permanently crippled billionaire.

But as the blood aggressively rushed back into his dormant leg muscles, a terrifying, sickening realization completely washed over him.

His legs were weak and trembling violently, but he could feel the rough texture of the pavement completely beneath his expensive Italian leather shoes.

He could feel the warm summer breeze brushing against his calves, completely destroying the medical lies he had been fed for nine years.

"How is this physically possible?" Julian whispered, his voice cracking with a mixture of absolute awe and sheer, unadulterated terror.

The teenager quickly glanced over his shoulder, his sharp eyes locking onto the massive security guards who were finally starting to turn their heads.

"They have been actively poisoning you every single morning, Julian," the boy stated, his voice completely steady and entirely serious.

"Those daily vitamins your private doctors prescribe are actually highly concentrated, military-grade neuro-suppressants."

Julian felt the breath entirely leave his lungs as the massive, twisted conspiracy finally began to violently unravel inside his brilliant mind.

His own corporate partners, his elite medical team, and his trusted legal advisors had completely orchestrated his physical imprisonment.

"We have to leave right now, before your guards realize you are standing and forcefully inject you with another dose," the teenager warned urgently.

Julian looked at the massive security guards, suddenly realizing they were not actually hired to protect him from the public.

They were highly paid prison wardens, completely designed to keep him trapped inside that wheelchair forever.

With a massive surge of pure, adrenaline-fueled determination, Julian took his first agonizing, shaky step entirely away from his metal prison.
