PART 9: THE BOARDROOM CONFRONTATION

The emergency board meeting was held on the top floor of the Carter Global skyscraper.

Damian Blackwell sat at the head of the long glass table, surrounded by his high-priced attorneys and a dozen terrified board members.

He looked exactly like Victor, but younger, his eyes colder, his posture projecting the absolute certainty of a man who had already won.

"You're late, Richard," Damian smiled, checking his diamond-encrusted watch as my father and I entered the room.

"I was beginning to think you valued your pride more than your grandson’s safety."

My father didn't answer.

He sat down at the opposite end of the table, placing a leather folder in front of him.

"Sign the papers, Richard," Damian commanded, sliding the transfer contract across the glass.

"And this entire media storm vanishes."

"Your foundation stays clean. Your family stays alive."

I stepped forward, sliding my own tablet to the center of the table.

The main wall monitor flickered to life, displaying a live connection to the Swiss Federal Banking Authority.

"We aren't signing anything, Damian," I said, my voice echoing through the silent boardroom.

Damian raised an eyebrow, a small, amused smile on his lips.

"A cute bluff, Ava. But your assets are frozen."

"Ours are," I agreed.

"But yours are currently being seized by the international court."

I tapped the screen, revealing the transaction logs of the 1999 Russian energy theft, completely unmasked using the encryption keys hidden within the Blackwell family portraits.

"Every dollar you used to buy our public shares came from an illegal sovereignty hack," I explained smoothly.

"The federal agents are entering your penthouse right now."

Damian’s smile completely vanished.

He reached for his phone, but before his fingers touched the screen, the double doors of the boardroom swung open.

A dozen federal investigators walked into the room, weapons drawn.

"Damian Blackwell," the lead agent announced.

"You are under arrest for corporate espionage, grand theft, and international wire fraud."

Damian stood up slowly, his eyes locked onto mine with a hatred so intense it felt physical.

"You think this changes anything?" he hissed as the agents pulled his arms behind his back.

"The Blackwell name will always find a way back."

May you like

"No," my father said calmly, standing up to look him in the eyes.

"Because this time, we are burning the roots."
