Chapter 2: The Face of an Executioner

"Vivian... look at me."

The wealthy husband whispered those chilling words as he stared up the sweeping staircase.

The tone of Harrison's voice made the private security guards at the door freeze. It wasn't a shout; it was a deadly, frozen cadence that signaled the absolute end of a man's humanity. He looked up at the top of the stairs, completely ignoring his wife’s beautiful face, focusing entirely on the raw panic paralyzing her features.

One woman stood frozen in a sparkling gold gown, blinded by her toxic greed and suddenly realizing there was a witness. The other little girl stood bravely, refusing to let the cruel woman get away with murder.

The wealthy husband didn't expect to hear his own daughter accuse his beautiful wife. Instead of mourning an accident, his world shattered instantly when he saw his wife's terrified eyes. The carefully crafted illusion of his happy, high-society marriage evaporated into thin air, leaving behind the ugly truth of an inheritance war. Vivian had been desperately trying to alter Eleanor’s will before the old woman could disinherit her for corporate espionage.

"Harrison, please! You’re going to believe a child over me?!" Vivian stammered, backing away from the edge of the staircase as Harrison began to ascend.

Each of Harrison’s footsteps on the marble stairs sounded like a ticking time bomb. "Lily does not lie to me, Vivian. But you... you have done nothing but lie since the day you took my ring."
