Chapter 3: The Traitor Cornered

By the time Harrison reached the top landing, Vivian was cornered against the master bedroom doors. Her sparkling gold gown, which usually made her look like royalty, now looked like a gilded straightjacket. She could hear the sirens wailing in the distance—the security team had already dialed 911 the moment Eleanor fell.
"I gave you everything," Harrison growled, his large hands tightening into fists at his sides. His protective instincts as a son and a father fused into an overwhelming wave of fury. "You wanted the estate. You wanted the Vance legacy. You thought you could kill my mother in my own home?"
"She was going to ruin us!" Vivian suddenly snapped, her elegant facade completely cracking as she realized she couldn't lie her way out. She glared at little Lily with pure venom. "The old woman found out about the offshore transfers. If she changed the will, we would have been left with nothing! I did it for us, Harrison!"
"There is no us," Harrison said coldly.
He didn't touch her, but his presence was so imposing that Vivian sank to her knees on the polished floor, weeping ugly tears of defeat. Downstairs, the emergency medical technicians burst through the front doors, immediately swarming around Eleanor, while two Connecticut State Troopers followed closely behind, their hands resting on their holsters.

"Sir, step away from the suspect," the lead trooper called up the stairs.
Harrison looked down at Vivian, his eyes completely devoid of warmth. "Take her. Press full charges for attempted murder, domestic violence, and grand larceny. I will ensure she gets the maximum sentence allowed by law."
