Chapter 20: The Open Road

One year later, the morning sun shone brilliantly over Manhattan as I pulled my navy blue Honda CR-V out of the subterranean parking garage and merged onto the West Side Highway.
The car was running smoother than ever, freshly detailed, with not a single scratch on its bumper.
My phone mounted on the dashboard lit up with a calendar notification: 10:00 AM – Quarterly Trust Board Meeting & Community Grant Review.
I smiled, tapping the screen to dismiss the alert, and turned up the volume on the radio.
My life wasn't a fairy tale. Running a multi-million-dollar estate, managing real estate development across three boroughs, and healing old familial scars required constant work, sharp boundaries, and unwavering resolve. But as I glanced in the rearview mirror and caught my own reflection—eyes bright, posture upright, shoulders completely free of invisible burdens—I knew one thing with absolute certainty.
