Chapter 15: The Diamond Standard

Spring arrived at the Vance estate with vibrant green ivy climbing the stone walls and fresh daffodils blooming across the manicured gardens. Sunlight danced over the grand marble steps of the entryway, where a warm breeze carried the gentle rustle of leaves through the open oak doors. The former atmosphere of suspicion had completely vanished, replaced by an enduring sense of peace and shared purpose.

In the administrative wing, Mateo loaded his last stack of engineering textbooks into the trunk of a modest sedan, preparing to move into his university dormitory. Elena stood on the stone driveway, helping him adjust his jacket collar with maternal care.

"Call me as soon as you settle into the dorm, Mateo," Elena said gently, her clear eyes bright with joy. "And remember to eat properly before your evening calculus lecture."

"I will, Elena," Mateo smiled, hugging her tightly. "I wouldn't be standing here today without you and Mr. Vance. I'm going to make you both proud."

Arthur walked down the marble steps, extending his hand to Mateo with a warm, encouraging smile. "You already have, Mateo. Work hard, stay grounded, and build things that last."

As Mateo drove down the long gravel driveway toward his bright future, Arthur and Elena walked slowly along the garden path overlooking the estate grounds. The morning sun reflected off the clear glass windows of the main mansion, where staff members worked with cheerful confidence.

"Looking back," Arthur remarked quietly, his American accent soft and reflective, "Victoria thought she could destroy a person's life with an expensive diamond necklace resting in a stolen bag. She believed luxury gave her absolute power over truth."

Elena paused near the stone fountain, looking back at the magnificent home that had once terrified her. "She forgot that true value isn't crafted in high-end jewelry stores or stored in private wall safes, Mr. Vance. It lives in how we treat each other when nobody is watching."

Arthur smiled, looking at Elena with profound respect. "My father used to say that character is the ultimate standard of wealth. You proved that to all of us, Elena."

Together, they turned and walked back toward the grand foyer of the Vance estate, stepping into a future defined not by cold luxury, but by the timeless, unbreakable diamond standard of human integrity.
