Chapter 8: The Arrival of Justice

At precisely nine o'clock, three heavy black sedans pulled up the winding gravel driveway of the Vance estate. Four prominent members of the foundation board, accompanied by corporate legal counsel and Detective Miller of the local precinct, entered the grand foyer. The atmosphere inside the tall marble entryway was thick with anticipation as Arthur stepped down from the main staircase to greet them, holding a thick leather folder containing all key documents.
Victoria was brought down from the guest quarters by a female officer. She had changed back into her elegant black dress, her dark hair restored to a tight, slick bun, though the cold confidence in her intense expression was replaced by a rigid, guarded stillness. Her silver earrings caught the bright morning light as she glanced briefly at the board members, attempting a polite, practiced smile that found no warm response.
"Thank you all for arriving on short notice," Arthur said, his American accent rich with steady, undisputed authority. "We are gathered here to address a severe breach of legal trust, criminal theft, and a malicious attempt to frame an innocent employee."
Arthur gestured toward the wall-mounted security monitor near the archway. The estate technician pressed play on the digital recording system, displaying the clear, timestamped video footage from the previous afternoon. The board members watched in stunned silence as Victoria appeared on screen, slipping the heavy diamond necklace into Elena's brown designer handbag before storming out to make her false accusation.
"This video demonstrates clear malicious intent," legal counsel declared, adjusting his glasses as he reviewed the detailed timestamp. "It is an open-and-shut case of false filing and willful defamation."
"That is only the beginning," Arthur added, opening the leather folder across the central table to present the navy ledger and original bank records. "Over eighteen months, Victoria systematically diverted nearly two million dollars from the Vance Children's Foundation into foreign shell accounts to cover personal financial liabilities."

Detective Miller examined the forged authorization stamps, transaction logs, and wire transfer slips with a grim, discerning expression. He turned to face Victoria, pulling a pair of standard steel handcuffs from his duty belt. "Victoria Ashford, you are under arrest for grand larceny, criminal forgery, corporate embezzlement, and filing a false law enforcement report."
Victoria stood frozen in the center of the marble foyer, her jaw tightening as the cold reality of her impending imprisonment finally settled over her once-polished facade. As the steel cuffs clicked firmly around her wrists, she made no further sound, stubbornly avoiding the disappointed gaze of the assembled household staff.
