Don't Look At Me

The hallway remained silent.

The girl struggled to sit up.

Her hands trembled.

She reached for her prosthetic leg.

Trying to adjust it.

Before anyone noticed.

But it was too late.

Students were already staring.

Some whispered.

Others simply watched.

Tears blurred her vision.

She pulled her backpack closer.

As if it could shield her.

One notebook had burst open.

Family photographs spilled across the floor.

She immediately crawled toward them.

"No..."

She whispered.

"Please..."

She quickly gathered one photograph.

Then another.

A tear landed on the last one.

Behind her...

The boys walked away.

Still laughing.

One girl standing nearby covered her mouth.

Horrified.

She wanted to help.

But fear kept her frozen.

The injured girl lowered her head.

She wasn't crying because she had fallen.

May you like

She was crying because...

Everyone had watched her break.
