Chapter 2: The Woman in Red

Elena froze for only a second.
Long enough to see Marina on the floor.
Long enough to see the blood.
Long enough to see Victor yank his foot away.
“Elena—thank God you’re here,” Victor stammered, suddenly breathless. “She attacked me. She’s completely unstable.”
Marina stared at him in disbelief.
Hours earlier, Elena had been halfway across the city preparing for a charity gala. She should not have been here.
But Elena’s eyes moved past Victor and locked onto the small security camera mounted above the grand staircase.
The red light was blinking.
Recording.
Victor noticed it too.
For the first time that day, fear flashed across his face.
Elena pointed upward.
“That camera recorded everything.”
