Chapter 8: The Courtroom
The hearing lasted less than an hour.
Victor’s forged signatures were exposed by forensic experts. The security footage was admitted into evidence. The judge granted Marina a protective order and awarded temporary custody rights in advance of the baby’s birth.
Victor tried one final argument.
“She’ll ruin my life!” he shouted.
The judge looked at the screen showing Marina’s injured hand.
“No, Mr. Hale,” the judge replied. “You did that yourself.”
The gavel came down.
