Lily opened the ledger on Samuel’s desk. "The ledger isn't just numbers," Lily realized, her sharp young eyes catching a pattern in the margins. "Look at the dates. They match the musical notes of Grandpa’s favorite song on the grandfather clock!" Samuel leaned in, examining the microscopic numbers written alongside the ledger entries. Lily’s grandfather had used a musical cipher to encrypt the master bank accounts containing over fifty million dollars. Without Lily's memory of the clock's chime in Room 4B, the cipher was unbreakable.
